TRADERoria to do before you install any plugin is to backup the database, following the instructions of this post .
Although a newly installed plugin is automatically disabled in case of problems or conflicts, it is best to make a copy of our files to avoid damage or worse to lose entirely.

The first plugin that we present is WP Security Scan .

Installing the plugin

Go into the "Plugins" menu "Tools" in the WordPress dashboard and click on "Add New".
In the search form enter "WP Security Scan", look inlist and click "Install".

Now follow these instructions

Once installed, the plugin will be created in the sidebar of the dashboard instruments of the "Security" (security), in turn divided into subsections:

The first suggestion is that you must follow to update the blog to the latest versions of WordPress, which often are issued for new ways to block possible intrusion of strangers.

The second item concerns the prefixes of the tables in your database.
By default WordPress sets prefix "wp_, useful information for those who want access to your data or change some settings for the blog.
To change it just go in subsection "Database" in the "Security", enter a name other than "wp_" space after "Change the current" and click "Start Renaming" (Start rename).

– Scanners

Display the permissions of directories WordPress.
Again the entries in red are the ones to alter, by a client FTP panel or managing your web space.

– Password Tool

We indicate the strength of the password you have chosen, and suggests a ready to use.
But remember, always use long enough passwords that include numbers and special characters such as exclamation points or question.

In the next post we will see how to further protect our blog, changing the rest of the settings specified by the plugin WP Scan.
