Send or receive files over the Internet is now an operation in which we are all accustomed to. The easiest way to send a file as an attachment is safe to send an email, but it can happen that the file you want to send / receive is too big in size (usually above 5 or 10 MB) and can not be sent by mail. What to do? There are many online services to transfer large files, however it can happen that some company asks you to send or download files via FTP. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and is a file transfer system was born at the dawn of the Internet but still widespread.

The FTP system is based on two components: Serer and client. The server, usually a company, is permanently connected to the Internet and is the place where files are sent, stored and subsequently downloaded from a potentially infinite number of users, equipped with a login and password.
The client however is what is installed on normal computers, Windows or Mac that is. This simple program will allow us to connect to the server to send or receive files.

In this guide we will restrict ourselves to the party FTP client. Therefore assume that someone has already given access to an FTP server and you need to collegarvici to transfer files. Remember, to access an FTP server you need three basic information:

Server Address: E 'the address of the FTP server to which we connect. Can have two forms: 192.168.1.1 or ftp.dominio.it, both are acceptable. It 'also called the Host or Hostname. < li> Login / Username is the name of our users to connect to server Password: I would say quite intuitive, it is obviously our password

If you do not have these three pieces of information, stop immediately and ask who asked you to send files as FTP access to your server. If you have this information go ahead!
